Have you ever been annoyed that you can’t participate in Florida’s primary elections because you are non-party affiliated? Amendment 3 would change that.
Amendment 3 would change Florida’s closed primary elections for state elected officials to a top-two open primary system. Those officials include state legislators, governor, and elected cabinet officials like the attorney general.
Florida primaries are currently closed, making only voters with party declarations eligible to vote for the candidate who will represent their party in the general election.
The top-two open primary system would list all qualified candidates running for the office on the primary ballot and allow all registered Florida voters to choose. The top-two candidates, regardless of party affiliation, would move to the general election.
